Tap into support to maintain a healthy workplace
One in six employees will experience a mental health issue as work. An event in Oxford highlighted the wide range of support available to help maintain a healthy workplace.
It highlighted how employers are recognising the importance of mental health by:
- creating a workplace culture that supports mental health and enables people to seek help when they need it
- securing senior commitment to support mental health and wellbeing
- introducing clear workforce wellbeing policies implemented at all levels
The event, sponsored by the Oxfordshire Workplace Wellbeing Network, took place at Unipart on 29 September. Contributors included Mind, the Samaritans and Mencap. They highlighted how they can help support people who have mental health issues and assist them back into the workplace or – to find employment.
The benefits of supporting staff include increased productivity, less staff sickness, better retention rates and improved morale.
